Bodrum is Turkeys most well known and popular costal resort. The town is located on the peninsula of the same name, in the Asia Minor part of the country. Travellers and those who live in and around Bodrum have easy access to the Mediterranean Sea and the sandy beaches that can be found there.
With its numerous islands that can be seen from the beach and the rocky coast, Bodrum’s bay counts as one of the most beautiful ones in the country. It is also a paradise for divers as the water is crystal clear and the underwater world is varied and extensive.
The tourist centre of Bodrum is also famous for its yachting facilities and the lively nightlife. Whether you are looking for a quiet bar with relaxing music or a bar in which you can dance and go for drinks late at night, Bodrum will be the perfect destination.
The former fishing village is built on top of the ruins of Halicarnassus and offers not only a wide range of things to do but also numerous things to visit. Probably the most important highlight here is the Bodrum Castle which dates back to 1402. Other see worthy sights are the Amphitheatre, the Ottoman Tower, the Mausoleum and the Myndus Gate.
Should you live in Bodrum or visit the town in the beginning of September, you will be able to join and enjoy the Bodrum Festival which is held annually. Remember that even though Bodrum is officially located in Asia, flight times from the UK to the resort are only between two and three hours. Once on the airport is just another 30 minute drive until you reach the centre of the town.
