Gundogan is one of the numerous fishing villages that can be found along the coast of the Bodrum Peninsula. Each of them has its own unique charm and offers ideal surroundings to spend some relaxing days of holiday. It is also a great place to purchase property as other towns and villages are nearby and the Mediterranean Sea is just a stone’s throw away.
The town has like many others in the region Greek origins. Sometimes locals still call Gundogan by its old name “Farilya” which means sunrise in Greek. Today you will hardly find any Greek ruins anymore but there are several other sights and highlights that can be visited.
To start off you could go for a pleasant stroll through the centre of the town or along the beach from where you can see the impressive mountain range, extensive pine forests and amazing rock formations. A little further away there are some interesting caves, a beautiful monastery, the old Ottoman tower and many other points of interest.
Should you not want to leave the town you have the possibility to sunbathe on the beach, practise water sports or simply enjoy the tranquil way of life that makes Gundogan to such a nice place.
