Turkish Property World

Turkey is becoming more and more popular with those who are thinking about moving to another country. The cost of living is generally lower than in most other European countries, especially should you not want to live in one of the holiday resorts by the coast; and even there it is still affordable and less expensive than in costal areas of other countries.

Probably the most important things to know before moving to Turkey are the rental and property prices. To rent a house with two to three bedrooms will cost around € 200 and € 400 and to purchase property in the same category you will have to calculate about € 240.000. Of course those prices are relative and depend on what you are looking for and where. Izmir and Altinkum count as the towns with the cheapest property prices while Bodrum is better known, popular with holiday makers and therefore more expensive.

Here are some guides on how much you will earn and spend in Turkey: The minimum wage in the country is € 240 but you will most likely earn between € 600 and € 1.000, depending on what your job is. Should you are planning on retiring in Turkey than you will be more than happy to hear that UK pensions are not taxed here. Electricity bills are about 40 € per month and a meal in a decent restaurant you should calculate about 13 €.

Another fact that is worth mentioning is that the IVA in Turkey is 3 %. This is split in half so that buyer and seller both pay 1.5 %. More or less the only thing that is more expensive than in other countries is the fuel with prices ranging between € 1.14 per litre up to € 1.74 per litre
