Yachting remains a popular activity in Turkey and over the past 40 years the industry has grown, with a large number of marinas now dotting the coastline between Istanbul and Antalya.
Two of the largest marinas in Turkey are the Atakoy on the European side and Kalamis (Amiral Fahri Koruturk) on the Asian side. From the North Sea through Europe, yachtsmen can sail down the channel system and Rhine and Danube Rivers into the Black Sea harbours and Istanbul Bogazi and marinas - a safe and short way to go to the Turkish Mediterranean coast.
The Black Sea coast offers numerous coves and fishing harbours along its coast. Turkey's most established marinas lie on the southern Aegean and Mediterranean coasts at Izmir, Cesme, Kusadasi, Bodrum, Datca, Bozburun, Marmaris, Gocek, Fethiye, Kalkan, Kas, Finike, Kemer and Antalya. In these well-equipped harbours yachtsmen can find every service they require. Antalya, Dalaman, Izmir and Istanbul airports all provide quick links to all of Turkey's marinas when you can board your yacht after you land after a short flight and sail off within a day.
